Products
Use the shared SKU catalog, product dashboard, Kanban workflow, and cross-module product analytics.
What this module does
Products is the organization’s central product catalog and intelligence workspace. It is built around the shared SKU registry rather than a separate copy of each Research, Quotation, Testing, or Returns record.
The dashboard summarizes the catalog and available product analytics. The Kanban view groups visible SKUs by product status and supports moving products through the organization’s product-status workflow.
When to use it
Use Products when you need a catalog-wide view, want to locate a SKU, compare product lifecycle or quality signals, review available testing and returns analytics, or open a single product’s detailed cross-module record.
Use Research, Quotation, Testing, and Returns when you need to edit the specialized workflow data owned by those modules.
How it fits into CapitalOS
The SKU registry is the product identity used throughout CapitalOS. Research, quotation, testing, returns, Shopify variants, and other operational records can reference the same SKU.
Opening a product detail page exposes the records available for that product across permitted modules. Parent and child SKUs preserve variation relationships while allowing variation-level performance and operational data.
Main concepts
- SKU registry: the organization-specific master identity for a product or variation.
- Parent and child SKUs: a hierarchy for a product family and its variations.
- Product status: the current catalog-level workflow state shown in the dashboard and Kanban view.
- Overview dashboard: catalog KPIs, lifecycle, category, platform, quality, testing-depth, returns, and trend sections when data is available.
- Kanban view: a status-oriented view where authorized users can move visible SKUs between supported columns.
- Product detail: a single-SKU view containing shared details and permitted module records.
- Data source: manual, imported, or synchronized information attached to the shared product identity.
Typical workflow
- Confirm the active organization.
- Use search and dashboard filters to find a product or segment.
- Review catalog and available analytics for data quality or performance signals.
- Switch to Kanban when the team needs a status-oriented workflow view.
- Open a SKU to inspect details and records from Research, Quotation, Testing, Returns, and other supported sources.
- Correct specialized data in the module that owns it.
- Import product data only after checking SKU and variation matching.
Permissions and prerequisites
You need Products access for the active organization. Module sections inside a product detail remain subject to their own permissions.
Analytics depend on the underlying products, orders, testing evidence, returns, costs, and integrations. A blank section may reflect missing or unmatched source data rather than a product with zero activity.
