Finance

Review revenue, costs, profit, targets, operational expenses, channel health, and data completeness.

What this module does

Finance is the organization’s financial analytics and reporting workspace. It combines date-range analysis, finance spreadsheet data, targets, operational costs, portfolio context, channel-health indicators, and warnings about gaps in the underlying data.

The module is designed to show both financial results and whether the available inputs are complete enough to trust those results.

When to use it

Use Finance to review revenue, costs, profit, margin, advertising spend, target progress, and operational expenses for an organization or supported portfolio view.

Use Orders to inspect an individual transaction and Testing to make product or campaign decisions from performance evidence.

How it fits into CapitalOS

Finance draws on commerce orders, refunds, product economics, advertising data, transaction-fee settings, and operational costs. The selected date range and organization determine which records contribute to the view.

Because these sources can synchronize at different times, Finance surfaces channel health and gap information rather than silently treating all missing data as zero.

Main concepts

  • Revenue: sales value available for the selected organization and period.
  • Costs: product, advertising, transaction, and configured operational costs where available.
  • Profit and margin: results calculated from the available revenue and cost inputs.
  • Date range: the reporting period applied to analytics and finance tables.
  • Target: a time-bound organization or portfolio goal and its progress.
  • Operational cost: an organization-maintained expense used in financial context.
  • Channel health: the availability or freshness of expected commerce and advertising inputs.
  • Data gap: missing or incomplete evidence that can affect a financial result.

Typical workflow

  1. Confirm the organization or supported portfolio context.
  2. Select the reporting date range.
  3. Review the primary financial result and supporting analytics.
  4. Check channel-health badges and data-gap warnings.
  5. Inspect the finance spreadsheet for row-level or period-level detail.
  6. Review advertising spend validation where it is available.
  7. Add or update operational costs used by the organization.
  8. Create or review targets and compare progress with the selected period.

Permissions and prerequisites

You need Finance Center access for the organization. Accurate reporting depends on synchronized orders, valid product costs, advertising connections, transaction-fee settings, and maintained operational costs.

Do not interpret a partial dataset as a final profit result. Resolve visible gaps or explain them when sharing the report.
